The Day Hip-Hop Died

First off, I live in the south and I live off of the south's abundance of culture and diversity but the truth has to be said. I know I'll take a lot of heat for this but here goes...

Remember the days when it was cool to tag up the side of a building while trying to dodge the pigs? You don't? Well that's because you've grown up in a generation that have turned it's back on the essence that made hip-hop one of the best cultural movements the world has ever seen. Ever been to a block party where...literally the whole block was on lock? You probably haven't left your comfortable room in the past week far more go outside and rebel against something. I know a few of the cats on this supposed Hip-Hop site know what I'm talking about because I see a few posts here and there filled with insight from a day gone by. Some of us remember what it was like when NWA came out. They opposed everything about middle-white America. They shitted on anything without rhyme or reason. Yet some guys on this site have the tact to compare some previously unknown cats (Boyz N Da Hood) to NWA. Yeah, I'm ranting right now but fuck it. I'm sick of seeing posts where someone who has no knowledge of the real Hip-Hop culture type something so stupid it makes you wonder if they actually lived some of the shit they type.

Remember the days when the Undaground actually meant something and not the label status of your current favourite artist? Remember when DJ's were fucked over? No talent 'MCs' started selling out? Most cats on this site probably became infatuated with the mere thought of rebelliousness when they first saw Eminem. I'm not trying to knock Em or BNDH by the way but they are a fraction of what Hip-Hop is all about. It's easy to say some bullshit behind a computer screen and not think two cents about it but that's the current status of the game nowadays...it's being run by corporate America. Hip-Hop was never about sales or get money or shit like that. It was about the message, the clothes, the opposition. That's been lost today. You see it on T.V. All the time. Rappers who sell out to make some cash. That's what it all boils down to now. Well, if Hip-Hop is to survive, the real heads to address the situation we have instilled into the current generation's brain-cells or else it will fizzle away like the soda-pop I am drinking right now.
